Over the years, I have written and performed a few different styles of music, but this page is dedicated to my recent albums of electronic music. I don't feel confident enough to call my music any more specific genre than that, but I would describe it as typically midtempo, melodic, loop-heavy, minimalistic electronic music. I've heard it compared to video game music which I don't take as an insult, and I've been told it's good background music for focusing. My music has also been employed as hold music at least one establishment. My goal is to write catchy songs that are fun to listen to, and I'm always striving to come up with new quirky sounds, goofy song titles, and unique concept albums.
All my albums of electronic music feature tracks that were composed and recorded in a single session each, typically in a single take on hardware instruments with minimal editing. I sequence my tracks with a Korg SQ-64 and occasionally will play live solos or leverage additional step sequencers (such as the SQ-1 or my synths' onboard sequencers/arpeggiators), and record into a Tascam Model 12 mixer which enables me to record each track separately and adjust the mix after the fact. I adopted this style of composition and recording not because I believe it is superior to more deliberate and refined techniques, but because it allows me to have a clearly defined finish line for a completed track and prevents me from getting projects stuck in post-production.
I am willing to grant usage of my music in a variety of projects. I am happy to take on commissions for soundtrack work for videos, games, art installations, or live productions. If you are in control of a phone tree and would like to use one of my songs as the hold music, I would be delighted. Please contact me at wilson@kneiszel.com if you'd like to discuss using any of my music or commissioning a new composition for your project.
