Spring on Home Video is my debut album of electronic music. These songs were some of my first experimentations with writing electronic compositions.
To me, naming a composition is as challenging and critical of a part of the musical process as any other. The title is intended to evoke a feeling of nostalgia echoed by the songs themselves; it is a phrase with two potential interpretations: first, it may be derived from the expression "coming this spring on home video" which calls to mind the previews at the beginning of a commercial VHS release; second, it may be simply referring to the season of spring as captured on a homemade video. I had both of these things in mind when I selected the name, and I think it fits the dual moods of the music, which alternates between melodies that are bittersweet and reflective—such as the title track or Stargazing with Strangers— and upbeat and catchy tunes evoking fantastical scenes and imagery—such as Slithering Creatures Emerge From Crevices Just Beyond Your Field of Vision or An Unexplained Encounter Over the Waters of Lake Superior.
